Steel-Wood Fireproof Door | Modern Design for Safe Buildings

Fire-resistant door with customizable finishes for hospitals, schools, and offices.

product details

A steel wood fireproof door combines a heavy-duty steel frame with a real wood door leaf, and it is the specification most often chosen for hotels, apartments and office buildings where the corridor has to look finished but still hold a fire rating. Our steel-wood fireproof door is filled with a fireproof rock wool or perlite core to reach a 30, 60 or 90 minute fire rating, blocking fire and smoke while the leaf keeps the warmth of a wood surface. The eco-friendly fire-retardant coating resists high temperature and preserves the wood texture instead of turning the door into a plain metal panel. Complete with fire-rated hardware and intumescent seals, the doorset is built to keep its integrity for the rated period, and it supports customization in size, wood species and finish, with stable mass production and full export documentation.

How a Steel-Wood Fireproof Door Reaches 30, 60 or 90 Minutes

The rating is not decided by the thickness of the wood face. It comes from four parts working together: the steel frame, which holds the leaf in place when the timber starts to char; the core, where rock wool or a perlite fireproof board slows the heat transfer through the leaf; the intumescent seal, which expands in heat and closes the gap between leaf and frame so that smoke cannot pass; and the hardware, because a door that loses its closer or lock during a fire stops being a fire door. This is why we test and supply the doorset as a set rather than a leaf on its own, and why we ask for the opening size, the required rating and the wall construction before confirming a fire door specification.

Steel-Wood Composite vs Solid Wood Fire Doors

Buyers searching for a wooden fire door often find two different products, and the difference matters at inspection. A solid timber fire door is made entirely of wood with a fire-retardant treatment and a tested core; it looks like furniture and is common in heritage and residential interiors. A steel-wood composite door, which is what we build, uses a cold rolled or galvanized steel frame with a fire-rated wooden face and a mineral core — the frame gives the doorset its dimensional stability and its rating, while the face gives the architect the wood finish. If a project genuinely calls for solid timber fire doors, ask us directly: they are quoted on request, and we will tell you plainly when the specification you have written is better served by the composite type or by the timber type.

Where Steel-Wood Fire Doors Are Used

The usual locations are hotel guest floors and corridors, apartment building cores, office partitions, hospital and school circulation areas, equipment rooms and pipe shafts. In these places a fire door is on show all day, so the specification has to satisfy two audiences at once: the fire officer, who wants the rating, the seals and the self-closing hardware to be correct, and the interior designer, who wants the leaf to match the joinery of the floor. Heat transfer wood grain finishes and fire-resistant paint are the two routes we use, and both can be matched to a sample panel before production. Door coordinator, panic bar, fire lock and rated closer are supplied as part of the set so that nothing on the door is a weaker component than the rating allows.

Documents to Request With Your Quotation

For a fire door order, the paperwork is part of the product. Ask for the dimensioned door and frame drawing for approval, the material and finish specification, the hardware list with the model of each rated item, the packing method, and photographs of the finished doors and the loaded container before shipment. The fire test report for the doorset should cover the leaf, frame, core and hardware together; a certificate of origin is issued for customs, and third-party inspection is arranged through the body your project appoints.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a fireproof door and a fire rated door?

In practice the two terms describe the same product: a doorset designed to hold back fire and smoke for a stated period. “Fireproof” is the marketing word, “fire rated” is the technical one. What matters on site is the number — 30, 60 or 90 minutes — and whether the complete doorset, including frame, seals and hardware, carries that rating.

Can a wooden fire door really resist fire for 60 minutes?

Yes, when it is built as a tested assembly. The wood face chars at a predictable rate and the mineral core plus intumescent seals do the fire stopping. A single untreated timber panel cannot do this, which is why the rating always belongs to the doorset, not to the material alone.

What sizes and finishes can you produce?

Standard production covers 2100 × 900–1200 mm and 2200 × 1500 mm openings in single or double leaf form, with other sizes engineered to order. Wood grain heat transfer finishes and fire-resistant paint are available in the colour you specify, and a sample panel can be approved before mass production.

What are the delivery time and payment terms?

Production takes 20–25 days after the 30% deposit is received, with the balance due before shipment by T/T. Packing is EPE foam and carton, with special packing available for long sea routes.
